Alex: Whenever I think about how twenty years ago wasn’t the 80’s, it kind of freaks me out. I found this article that claims to have defined the 21st century in 100 photos. I had to check it out. As I was scrolling through the photos, I was able to reflect on the conflicts, triumphs and world changing moments that we’ve all witnessed and lived through together in the past fourteen years. These images speak for themselves.
Nik:  Would you go to space if you had the chance?
Alex: In a heartbeat.
Nik:  Really?
Alex: Absolutely. I would live there if I could. Would you?
Nik:  Live there?
Alex: No, go there.
Nik:  Hmm.  I’m not sure.  If I was your age I would.  I was fearless at your age.  The older you get the more awareness you have of all the bad shit that can happen and often does happen (see photos) but…maybe that’s exactly the time one should travel to space…when they’re terrified of it.
Alex: For once I’m not the one rambling.
Nik:  No, seriously, when I was your age I wasn’t scared of anything. It’s something that happens as you get older and it’s actually really interesting and also annoying. It’s like you have more to lose because you sort of figure things out as you get older. You finally have answers to all the things you questioned in your twenties. It’s like I have a life I really love now.  A life I worked really hard to get.  And I don’t want to lose it by getting sucked into a black hole or fried by a solar flare.
Alex: I can see where you are coming from. For me, life right now is all about learning from my experiences. I think with every adventure, failure, success or relationship you grow. I’m all for exploring the unknown.
Nik:  I doubt that I’ve learned everything I need to learn so maybe I’m just so happy that I don’t want to learn anything new?  Is it a control thing? Because right now space=fear.
Alex: I think that no matter what age you are you’ll always learn through experiences, especially new ones. It’s important not to lose that adventurous side.  It keeps life expansive and interesting. You shouldn’t let go of that wild spirit that got you to LA in the first place. Come on, twerk with me in space. I know you can.
Nik: What would that even look like?
Alex: I’ll take that as a yes!
Nik:  I guess this is why you’re my muse.
(later)
Nik:  You realize there are only 75 photos, right?
Alex: What? There were 100 when I found the article. I swear on the Packers.
